FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Wednesday, January 29, 2025
A snap election call has been made in Ontario and Bobbi Ann Brady will once again be on the ballot asan Independent to defend the hardworking taxpayers of Haldimand-Norfolk.
“The last thing we need right now is an election. Doug Ford has a clear mandate until June 2026, so this is suspicious and completely unnecessary,” Brady said. “I believe he’s heading to the polls before the RCMP investigation is complete. Whatever it is, it’s a costly move at about $150 million and it breaks Fixed Election date legislation in Ontario.”
Brady stunned political pundits in 2022 when she claimed victory in Haldimand-Norfolk despite the riding be held by the conservatives provincially for 27 years. She ran her campaign on defending democracy after Doug Ford denied a nomination race in riding.
Over the past 2.5 years, Brady has been a powerful voice in the Ontario Legislature, speaking with honesty and integrity. She says she is only guided by what is important to the people of Haldimand-Norfolk. Last year, the Queen’s Park media voted Brady as a rising star of the Legislature.
“I am not bound to Party overlords, and I do not have to tow a Party line,” she said. “I am not swayed by special interest which, in my opinion, is running Doug Ford.”
Doug Ford yelled at Brady during question period in 2024 that she’d be out of a job come the next election. Ford’s outburst came on the heels of a question asking him to follow the lead of Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and to stop collecting the carbon tax on home heating.
“I accepted his challenge,” Brady said. “The majority of people tell me they have been represented the past 2.5 years like never before. They like that they are in the driverseat and that’s exactly where the taxpayer should be. Government should work for you, not the other way around.”
